
The main purpose of this form is to provide a means of selecting any one of the databases. This form is also a top level key and indicates in flowchart format how the animals in any of the databases are distinguished from those in another database.
There are eight active database buttons, one for each of the available databases of common UK animals. Each has a picture of a species in the database. The available databases are:
A right click on one of the buttons will open a Context Sensitive Help Box that provide a brief description of the database and a full list of all the species covered. A left click will open that database and bring up the first of the Identification Forms. You can only have one database open at a time.
A left or right click on one of the buttons will open a Context Sensitive Help Box that provides further brief details on how the key question helps to distinguish these animals.
(Question mark symbol in the top right hand corner) Left click opens a Context Sensitive Help Box with basic information on using the form, similar to that on this help page. The Help button on the Toolbar performs the same function.
(Book symbol in the top right hand corner) Left click opens an Information Page with further information on classification of Animals and the use of keys in distinguishing betwen them. The Information button on the Toolbar performs the same function.
