Species Plates

Species Plates are created by using the match button on the Identification Form or by opening one directly from the Name Browser or Thumbnail Browser. These are colour plates with one or more pictures together with text boxes showing the basic characteristics of a species. Exact appearance and layout of a Species Plate varies according to database and species.

You may have up to 24 Species Forms open. If you have several species windows open you may bring one to the front by click on it, from the Windows Menu, or by using the forward and backbuttons on the Toolbar. You may close all Species Plates from the Windows Menu.

Note there is no help button on this form. The help button on the Toolbar brings up a Context Sensitive Help Box with a summary of the information given here.

The layout of these may vary slightly.

• Information Button
  (Book) Left click opens a Context Sensitive Help Box with additional text material about the species. The information button on the Toolbar performs the same purpose. You may copy the text to the clipboard with a right click and using the select all then copy. This may be pasted (using the menu paste option or Ctrl-V normally) into any application that accepts text from the clipboard such as Microsoft Word or Notepad.



• Identification Button
  (key tree) This Brings up a Choice Indicator Box that shows any matching choices you made.



• Link Button
  (Chain link) On a small number of plates brings up a related plate, perhaps a larva of the same insect or a related species.
