Once you are past the introductory screen, Animals UK is a fairly standard Windows program in operation. If you are generally familiar with Windows programs you may skip this section and go to the next that deals with features specific to the program.
Left click on the Animals UK icon on your Windows Start Menu to start the program. If the Icon is not present for any reason, use Explorer to find the Animals UK directory (In Program Files if you accepted installation defaults) and double click on AnimalsUK.exe. After a brief display of the Splash Screen, you will see an Introduction Screen. Click on the Enter button to start the program proper.
Use the Menu with words at top left for many of the program functions.
The program itself and the windows within it may be closed or resized using the Control Box at top right or the Icon at top left.
The toolbar with small icons just below the menu provides the more common program functions in a convenient form.

There are also a number of controls available on most of the pages or forms.
These are usually obvious buttons but in some cases may be pictures or blocks of text.
You can tell whether something is an active control because a pointing finger is shown when you move the mouse
cursor over it.
If you leave the cursor over a control for a couple of seconds you will get a "Tool Tip" - a one line description of the control's function.
Unless help or tool tips specify otherwise, left click to use controls.
Some text pages also have links to other pages. These are indicated by colour, underlining and the pointing finger cursor. Left click to open the linked page.
Help is available on use of all controls. Look for the question mark symbol. There is one on the Toolbar and on most of the individual forms or pages. The Help Options item available on the Help Menu gives you this help text.
A control with a book symbol provides information on the subject material covered by a page or form rather than use of the form itself.
Information Pages may have a scroll bar down the right hand side. Scroll down to see all the text.
