Making Keys With Two Answers

This exercise allows pupils to pose key questions that will distinguish between species. In this exercise the questions must be answerable by either yes or no. Initially you see a box with "Click here to enter a question". Below are some small pictures of different species which you must distinguish.

When you click on the "Click here..." box you get a dialog. Enter a question in the top box and then drag each of the species at the bottom to go under the right answer. Larger versions of the same species pictures are shown at left of the box. Information on these items may be found elsewhere in Animals UK. The simplest way is to open the Name Browser from the View Menu and click on the name you want to open the plate. Then return to the key interactive using the Window Menu. Note: You will need to have the right database selected, use the Toolbar Database Selection button if necessary.

When a question has been posed and at least one of the species pictures is beneath each box click the Ok button at bottom left and another part of the key will be drawn. For any branch with a single species you will get a picture with the name of the species above it. For any branch with two or more species in it you will get another "Click here... " box. Continue until all species have been distinguished from each other.
