Plants UK Updates

From time to time we will provide Plants UK updates here. These are free of charge to existing users and will range from simple ammendments to the existing content to complete new species or interactive exercises intended for the next version. Each update will comprise one or more image and/or text format files only. The update process does not install any executables or system files on on your machine or change any of your system settings.

Updates currently available:

  1. Update 01. For Plants UK version 1 users. This is a minor ammendment to make choice of Wild Flower petal colour simpler for pupils. For a very small number of plant species such as the Bluebell, specimens with different coloured flowers may be found growing together in one place. Pupils are allowed to click more than one colour but this may be confusing. A single flower will only have one predominant colour so this update simply asks for the main colour of a single specimen.
  2. Update 02. For Plants UK version 1 or 2 users. This adds three new species, the Yellow Iris, the Burdock and the Douglas Fir. There is a new petal appearance option button in the wild flowers database and waterbourne option buttons for seed dispersal methods in both the wild flowers and the trees and shrubs databases.
  3. Update 03. For Plants UK version 1 or 2 users. This corrects some errors found in match strings, mostly in the leaf shape for the wild flowers database, to improve identification.
  4. Update 04. Principally for Plants UK version 1 or 2 users with Windows Vista. The main help file available from the Help menu will not work in Windows Vista. This update puts an updated new format help file in your Plants UK directory and a shortcut to it on your start menu. Non Vista users may also download this file which has a more atractive format and a number of minor text corrections.
  5. Update 05. For version 2.4 and lower. Corrects an overlap error in the "Making keys with more than one answer" interactive.
  6. Update 06. For version 2.4 and lower. Updates those interactives with a printing facility (keys and questions) to work with latest versions of Internet Explorer. This update is also needed for Windows Vista.
