The following updates are currently available. First check your copy of Plants UK to ensure what updates you already have. Click on the underlined text to update.
Update 01. Minor ammendments for Version 1 users.
You only need this update if the wild flowers petal colour question does not read "What is the main petal
colour?"
Update 02. Adds three new species, a new petal appearance button and a waterborne option to the seed dispersal methods for wild flowers and trees and shrubs. You only need this update if you do not have the species and buttons listed below.
Update 03. Matching corrections. You only need this update if selecting only the "Hand shape" button in the Wild Flowers leaf shapes and clicking Match does NOT cause the Common Mallow to be presented as the top plate and the only flower with a 100% score in default view. (If you have the option set to present matches on the thumbnail browser, if it is NOT the first item shown and the only one with the name and 100% score on a non-gray background.)
Update 04. New format help file, mainly for Windows Vista users with pre-Vista program versions. You only really need this update if click on Help/Help Topics brings up a Microsoft error box, although non-Vista users may also prefer the neater format of this version. This update does not modify the program itself, only the file available from the Animals UK help shortcut on your Toolbar.
Update 05. Corrects an error in the "Making keys with more than one answer" interactive. You only need this update if you find that the answer boxes are overlapping on the page. If you use update 04 you do not need this one.
Update 06. Updates the interactives that allow printing to work with later version of IE. You only need this update if the page setup or print buttons in the questions or keys interactives give a non fatal script error. This update uses Mead Corporation's latest ScriptX add in.
Update 07. Prevents non fatal script errors after upgrade to Internet Explorer 8. You need this update if clicking on help or information buttons brings up an error box.
Ensure Plants UK is not running. You will need to be logged in as administrator on Win2000, XP or Vista.
Click on the above text. In the File Download dialog select Open to install the upgrade. If you get a Windows security warning box asking if you wish to install the file click Yes. (Alternatively you can choose save to disk and install later by click on the file.)
After download is complete the self extracting file will open. The update setup works in the same way as Plants UK install but no serial numbers or user details are required. Click next on the first page.
If Plants UK was installed in the default directory of C:\Program Files\Plants UK, just click next when asked, otherwise use the browse button to locate the correct directory first. Click next.
Click install on the last page. The updates will now be available in Plants UK in the same way as existing content.
Note: Unless stated, updates do not modify system files or settings. There is no need to shut down other applications.
